Māori text with macrons

This website uses macrons to signify the length of Māori vowels. To use macronised characters, our web server sends the text as Unicode. Unicode is a system that provides a unique number for every character, no matter what the platform, program, or language.

If you are seeing boxes, question marks, or other unusual characters on this website, instead of the correct macron, it means that either you don't have the Unicode fonts, or that your browser is not set up to use them.

You can download various Unicode fonts, and find out how to configure your browser on the Unicode Resources website.
