The views of family and whānau

Many services provide good support to most families and whānau. However, for families and whānau with multiple and complex needs, a more effective model is needed. When support is delivered to, rather than developed with, those in need, families and whānau can become passive consumers of government-funded services. This can lead to learned helplessness, including intergenerational service dependency.

Families, whānau and communites are empowered to develop, design and deliver the support that they need.
