Submission on the Sale and Supply of Liquor and Liquor Enforcement Bill
Submission by the Families Commission to the Justice and Electoral Committee on the Sale and Supply of Liquor and Liquor Enforcement Bill
The Families Commission welcomes the opportunity to comment on the Sale and Supply of Liquor and Liquor Enforcement Bill.
This submission addresses those aspects of the Bill that are most relevant to families, particularly where the Families Commission has information on the views of families, or where we have had involvement with relevant research or policy developments.
The Commission supports the proposals for restrictions on off-licences and drink-driving by under twenty-year-olds who do not have their full licence (although we request some alteration to this provision), and for the creation of enforced self-regulation of alcohol advertising. We do not support the current form of the proposal to create an offence for supplying alcohol to young people under the age of eighteen.
