Living with alcohol
Alcohol causes considerable harm when abused. Much of this harm impacts on families in one form or another. New Zealand society has a tolerant attitude to alcohol and can be overly accepting of alcohol abuse. There is general agreement that we need to become less tolerant of excess consumption, and learn as a nation to be moderate in our use of alcohol. The Families Commission strongly endorse the need for change.
To this end, the Commission promotes a multi-agency approach to reducing the abuse of alcohol.
The Alcohol Advisory Council of New Zealand (ALAC) have produced a number of useful resources related to the responsible use of alcohol.
